What do you remember most about when you first moved to the UK?
I couldn't speak English very well, and I could say the basics at school, like 'good morning,' but I found it awkward to make friends.
What do you love about your country of birth?
I was born in Santa Maria, Brazil, and I really liked that I lived near my grandparents. I also like it when people ask me where I am from because I can explain my country to them.
What age did you move away from Brazil and can you remember anything about your travel to the UK?
I moved to England when I was four, and I don't really remember the journey but I do remember my mum was trying to teach me English when I arrived.
What is the Brazilian culture like?
Brazilians are really big on meat and barbecues and sports like football. I remember a time when my mum was invited to a barbecue but she was a vegetarian at the time, and she had to bring her own salad to eat. In Rio, they tend to have carnivals; although I've never been to one I know that they have big carnival floats on the streets.
